The projected mill between Jem Smith and Knifton, which was to have taken place near Paris, resulted in a fizzle. Only ten spectators were to have been brought by either side, but as the Smith “push” exceeded this number very largely, Knifton’s backer refused to let his man show. Jim Mace was retained to look after Knifton. According to latest advices the meeting was postponed indefinitely.
